CREW FILES SUPPLEMENTAL BRIEF IN CASE AGAINST DEP’T OF JUSTICE SEEKING RECORDS OF FBI-CHENEY INTERVIEW

13 Jul 2009 // Washington, D.C. - On Friday, July 10, CREW filed a supplemental brief in CREW v. Dep’t of Justice, CREW’s lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act seeking records of the interview Vice President Cheney gave to the FBI as part of its leak investigation. In response to questions raised by the Court during oral argument on June 18, CREW’s filing documented numerous instances where top White House officials voluntarily agreed to be interviewed as part of a pending law enforcement investigation. CREW also responded to the declaration of Lanny Breuer filed by DOJ in support of its claim that if Cheney’s interview is released future White House officials will refuse to cooperative with law enforcement investigations.
